How Laundry Pickup and Delivery Works at Freshly Folded

Laundry pickup is exactly what it sounds like: we come to your door, collect your dirty laundry, and bring it back clean and folded.

Most San Diego customers schedule pickup the day before. We arrive in your chosen time window, weigh your laundry on the spot, and give you a written confirmation before we leave. Your laundry comes back to your door the next business day, folded and packaged.

We don’t have a walk-in counter for general customers. Pickup and delivery is the service — you never need to drive to a laundromat or wait in a counter line.

What to Expect on Your First Pickup

You don’t have to be home for pickup. Most customers leave their laundry in a sealed bag at the door, and we collect it from there.

Before pickup:

  • Bag your laundry in any sealable bag (we provide reusable Freshly Folded bags for recurring customers — request one at first pickup)
  • Separate items that need different detergents (rare; most customers use one detergent for the whole bag)
  • Flag specific stains in the booking notes
  • If you have hangers from previous deliveries, leave them by the bag

At pickup:

  • Driver arrives in the time window you selected
  • Bag is weighed on the spot using a calibrated commercial scale
  • You get a written confirmation with the weight and the price
  • If you’re home: 30-second handoff. If not: we collect and message you the confirmation
  • Driver leaves with your laundry, no signature needed

Between pickup and return:

  • Wash, dry, fold at our La Mesa facility
  • Standard time: one wash cycle (typically 4-6 hours of facility processing time, but we batch to the next business day)
  • We do NOT offer same-day return. We offer next-business-day return. Quality control over speed.

Return:

  • Bagged and tagged with your name
  • Folded by hand, organized in stacks
  • Delivered to your door — sealed bag if you’re not home
  • Payment processed via the booking platform automatically
  • Receipt emailed

Pickup Fee and Minimums — Honest Math

Per-trip pickup fee: $5.99. This is the round trip — pickup + return. The fee covers fuel, driver time, and the routing logistics. It’s flat regardless of where you are in the service area.

Minimum order per pickup: $49.99. This is about 20 lbs of laundry — one full kitchen-trash-bag load.

How the minimum works in practice:

  • Pickup with 20 lbs of laundry: $49.99 (you pay the minimum, not the per-pound rate)
  • Pickup with 25 lbs at $2.49/lb: $62.25
  • Pickup with 10 lbs of wash & fold ($24.90) plus 3 dry cleaning shirts ($23.25): $48.15 → still pays the $49.99 minimum

You can combine wash and fold with dry cleaning items in the same pickup to hit the minimum on lighter weeks.

Pickup fee is NOT included in the minimum — it’s added separately ($5.99 per trip).

Total cost for a typical 25 lb week:

  • $62.25 wash and fold
  • + $5.99 pickup fee
  • = $68.24 total

How to Schedule Laundry Pickup

Pickup days: Monday through Saturday. We don’t pick up Sundays.

Pickup time windows: Typically 9 AM – 1 PM or 1 PM – 5 PM. Some areas have evening slots — confirm at booking.

How far in advance: Next business day is standard. Same-day pickup is sometimes possible if booked before 9 AM, depending on driver availability — call to ask.

Cancellation: Cancel up to 12 hours before your time window with no fee. Last-minute cancellations may incur a $5.99 fee (covers the unrecoverable driver routing cost).

No-Contact Laundry Pickup — When You're Not Home

You don’t need to be home for laundry pickup.

Most customers leave their laundry in a sealed bag by the front door, garage, or building entrance. We collect from there.

How to set up no-contact pickup:

  • Bag your laundry the morning of pickup
  • Place at agreed location (front door, garage, mailroom, doorman, etc.)
  • Confirm location in the booking notes
  • We text you when pickup is complete

Apartment buildings:

  • We coordinate with doormen or mailrooms when available
  • For walkup buildings, ground-floor or lobby is standard
  • Note your unit number and building access details in booking

Gated communities:

  • Provide gate code in booking notes
  • Or arrange to meet the driver at the gate
  • For HOA-managed communities, we follow standard entry procedures

Pets:

  • If you have a friendly dog, we’ll greet them
  • If your dog needs to be inside during pickup, let us know
  • We do not enter properties beyond the agreed pickup location

Return follows the same logic — sealed bag at the agreed location, text confirmation.

What We Pick Up (and What's a Separate Service)

Standard pickup items:

Wash and fold laundry (priced per pound)

Dry cleaning items (priced per item)

Wedding gowns for preservation (special handling)

You can combine all of these in one pickup. We sort at the facility.

Items that need special handling (mention at booking):

– Comforters and duvets — priced per item, not per pound

– Heavily-soiled or chemical-contaminated items (we may decline)

– Items larger than commercial-machine capacity (call to discuss)

– Hand-wash-only items with delicate beadwork

We will flag anything we cannot safely process at pickup and discuss alternatives.

Pickup and Delivery Pricing

The pickup fee is flat: $5.99 per trip (which covers the round trip — pickup + return).

 

The per-pound rates depend on your plan:

  • Weekly subscription: $2.35/lb
  • Standard weekly: $2.49/lb
  • On-request: $2.69/lb

Minimum order: $49.99 per pickup.

Sample math:

Weekly subscription, 25 lb pickup:

  • 25 lb × $2.35 = $58.75
  • + $5.99 pickup
  • = $64.74 total

On-request, one-off 30 lb pickup:

  • 30 lb × $2.69 = $80.70
  • + $5.99 pickup
  • = $86.69 total

Do you pick up in apartments?

Yes. Most apartment customers arrange pickup at the building entrance, mailroom, or doorman desk. Include your unit number and building access details in booking.

Is there a contract?

No contracts. Month-to-month, cancel anytime. Even the weekly subscription (which saves 6%) can be cancelled with one click in the booking platform.

Do you offer same-day laundry pickup and delivery?

Same-day pickup is sometimes possible if booked before 9 AM and you’re in a serviced area — call to confirm. Same-day return is not available — laundry takes one full cycle for proper washing and folding.
